Students who are both gifted and LGBTQIA face unique challenges and possess unique strengths. It is important for educators and parents of gifted students to be familiar with the nuances of the particular experiences of these students, know what the experts have to say, and understand how to respond in ways that empower these students to grow and learn, creating an environment that respects the whole child. In this session, these themes will be addressed, along with both adaptive and maladaptive coping behaviors employed by these students, as well as pragmatic strategies to use within the classroom.
