Students from low-income backgrounds have historically faced unique challenges that hinder collegiate success. Recent movements, such as the American Talent Initiative, are seeking to improve collegiate success rates for low-income, high-ability students at four-year institutions by examining various data sets in order to understand and address systemic barriers. In this session, the presenters will share survey data collected via the Excelling@Iowa student success platform regarding how students experience the transition to college, in addition to discussing campus resources and effective success strategies. The presenters will also engage attendees in dialogue about strategies for fostering alignment between K-12 and college settings.
